April

April is a 2.5-year-old Golden Labrador Retriever/hound mix. Our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue saved her from a kill shelter in Barnwell, Ga., When they brought her to the vet to examine her swollen cheek, he discovered that she had been shot in the side of the head and a 38 caliber bullet was lodged in her cheek.

We are sponsoring April. That sponsorship is paying for her surgery, anesthesia, vaccinations and heartworm test.

The bullet has been removed from April's face and she is expected to fully recover. Home for Good staff describe her as “the perfect dog.” She is sweet and submissive, loves human company and is a big fan of belly rubs. She is already the subject of offers for adoption as people hear her story and want to provide her with a safe, loving home.
