In memory of Bill McIntyre

(1946-2019)

and his beloved dog Tess.

Our Mission

The Tess McIntyre Foundation was founded in 2015. It is a tax deductible, 501(c)3 charitable foundation, and named after Tess, a rescued golden retriever whom met an early fate. You can read her story here.

The mission of the Tess McIntyre Foundation is to:

  • Provide financial support to organizations that rescue shelter or abandoned dogs and work to find homes for them.

  • We support these organizations and veterinarians who provide services to dogs who need medical attention before they can be successfully adopted.

  • To raise money and use 100% of the donated amounts for these purposes. All administrative costs and expenses other than the 2% credit card processing fee are funded by the principals of the foundation and not funded from donated proceeds.

No donation is too small and we thank you for anything you can give.

Please help Tess to help other needy dogs by pushing the DONATE button. You’ll feel good when you do.

A Canine Family Reunited
Coco
Coco was found in a trailer in Barnwell, South Carolina. Probably about 1-1/2 years old, she was heartworm positive and full of milk. When she was turned over to our partners at Home for Good Dog Rescue (HFG), she appeared to have recently given birth. But there were no puppies.

Amazingly the local animal control officer found the puppies buried in the insulation of the trailer. They were a little the worse for wear and hungry, but happy to be reunited with Mama. Coco and her family are now in Aiken, S.C., at HFG's care facility. Coco is being treated for heartworm and they will all be neutered and vaccinated. They will then be transported up to New Jersey and placed with a foster family until they can be adopted.

Thanks to your donations, we have been able to sponsor Coco and make a contribution to help pay for her and her puppies care and transport.

Peaches
Peaches is believed to be a 6-year-old terrier mix that our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue saved from a kill shelter called Jenkins County K911 in Millen, Ga. Peaches was pregnant at the time and the shelter planned to euthanize her after she had her puppies because they couldn’t afford the heart-worm treatment she needed. Read Peaches' Full Story!

DELILAH'S NEW FAMILY
A few weeks ago we learned about a South Carolina dog named Delilah who was in such bad shape you couldn't tell either her age or her breed. Our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue saved her at a shelter where she was being brought in to be euthanized. We made a donation to Home for Good to sponsor Delilah as they nursed her back to health in their Aiken, S.C., facility. The photo above shows a healthy Delilah (left) with her new adopting family. Pretty amazing! Your contributions will help us to save other dogs like Delilah. Read Delilah's Full Story!

Meet Some of Our Beneficiaries

The Tess McIntyre Foundation, through its GoFundMe campaign, has been providing Welcome Home Rescue Packs for dogs adopted through Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue (SCGRR). The rescue packs consist of a bed, a collar and leash, and a 3-month supply of flea and tick prevention medication. These rescue packs are provided for a safe and healthy environment for the animals as they move into their new homes. Read full story here.

Health Restored, 3-Year-Old JW Finds New Home, Loving Family

JW in his new bedJohnnie Walker, a three-year-old Golden Retriever, arrived at the Chula Vista Shelter in San Diego in serious condition. He had suffered a chest trauma and it had abscessed. The shelter did its best to clean the wound. Then he was rescued by Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue (SCGRR).

Working with the Animal Medical Center in Los Angeles, JW, as he is more commonly known, underwent several surgeries and skin grafts. After being cleared by the vet he was placed in one of the SCGRR’s volunteer foster homes for recovery, which apparently also included some ball playing and frolicking with a stuffed alligator. His foster family also helped JW get over some issues he had in dealing with other dogs. Read full story here.

Golden Retriever Turned In by Downsizing Owner Becomes First Beneficiary of Tess McIntyre Foundation Crowdfunding Campaign

A few short weeks ago, True Blue was left homeless when his owner downsized and no longer could accommodate him. But through the efforts of Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue, he is a happy dog enjoying his new home and loving family. And, along the way, True Blue became the first beneficiary of the Tess McIntyre Foundation’s campaign to provide Welcome Home Rescue Packs to newly adopted dogs. Read the full story here!

Tess McIntyre Foundation Funds First Rescue Packs

Welcome Home PackThe Tess McIntyre Foundation has provided a $300 donation to the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue to purchase Welcome Home Rescue Packs for the next six dogs adopted through the Southern California agency.

The funds were raised through the foundation’s Go Fund Me Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise a total of $2,500 which will be enough to provide rescue packs for 50 adopted dogs.

The Welcome Home Rescue Pack includes a bed, a leash, a collar and a three-month supply of flea and tick prevention medication. The intent is to provide these adopted dogs with a safe and healthy start in their new homes.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to support dog rescue organizations and to provide animals in need with the healthcare. You can read our story here.

Update on Cinda

CindaCinda is out of her “lampshade” hat and couldn’t be happier. Doctor says “all is good” and she is with us now in her furever home. Way to go sweet puppy. All of Cinda’s medical expenses have been outside of the Tess Fund so the next dog will really be the first to be helped by the Foundation.

Tess is now on the hunt for that next dog to help. Please help her to help others like Cinda. Push the DONATE button. Stay tuned.

See below for Cinda's story.

Who We’re Helping

CindaCINDA
15 month old Crème Golden Retriever needing eye surgery and a home

Cinda was returned to the breeder after the owners discovered she was not breeding material due to her eye situation – a $600 surgery per each eye and a congenital defect preventing clear breeding papers. After return, the original breeder simply kept her outside with no plans to either perform the surgery or spaying. Without surgery, this puppy would suffer permanent eye damage and blindness. Tess stepped in to help and Cinda is with us now, surgery scheduled. Tess will continue to report on Cinda’s progress.

UPDATE: Cinda is out of surgery successfully and recovering nicely. Wants desperately to be out of the “cone”. Stiches out and final OK coming.

Please help Tess help other dogs like Cinda!
