In Memoriam: Bill McIntyre

Lion King Litter

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bill McIntyre, founder and principal of the Tess McIntyre Foundation, after a lengthy illness. Bill, who was 73, was born and raised in Detroit and maintained residences in La Quinta, Calif., and West New York, N.J.

Bill was a friend to rescue dogs on both coasts. The foundation he created has supported many rescued dogs who had been abandoned, abused or injured and helped them get the medical care they needed to get a new start in life. Bill rescued several dogs himself, including Charley, a 5-year-old Golden Retriever who has been at Bill’s side for the past three years since he rescued her from a breeder’s backyard cage in Texas.

Bill had a successful career as a self-employed businessman. He has since devoted himself to his dogs, his music and his family. Bill was a dedicated musician who had at one time played guitar on 1960s hit songs including “Monster Mash” and “My Girl.” He continued to play guitar throughout his life and the walls of his California jam room were adorned with his collection of classic guitars.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia Low, and his daughter Kyle, how lives in Seattle. His family will maintain the foundation he created in his memory. A memorial will be held for Bill at a later time. Donations may be made to Tess McIntyre Foundation.
